      How to apply

      Eligibility

      To apply for HSBC Family Protector, you'll need to meet all these requirements:

      • be agedFootnote link 9 between 19 and 60
      • hold an existing HSBC HKD bank account or credit card
      • apply with the HKID you used to open your HSBC account
      • meet our requirements for nationality (country/region/territory), address and residency such as restrictions on US, mainland China and Japan—which may be subject to change from time to time

       

      HSBC Family Protector is a term life insurance plan with no savings element underwritten by HSBC Life (International) Limited. It is not equivalent or similar to bank deposit. Policyholders are subject to HSBC Life's credit risk.

      Notes

      1. Subject to the policy's underwriting limit.
      2. Your total monthly premiums, including the basic plan and additional benefits, will stay the same for the first 10 years, then the premiums will be adjusted every 10 years until your policy ends or until you reach the ageFootnote link 9 of 80—regardless of how the state of your health changes. Coverage can be up to ageFootnote link 9 80 with regular monthly premium payment.
      3. Based on a non-smoking male agedFootnote link 9 19 for a protection amount of HKD1,500,000 under the critical illness benefit. This figure is subject to rounding adjustment. The actual amount of the premium is decided at the discretion of HSBC Life.
      4. Daily cash payments to be paid for up to a maximum of 730 days for any one period of the covered disability.

        You'll receive half of the daily cash payments if you're hospitalised in mainland China.

      5. Based on a non-smoking male agedFootnote link 9 19 for a daily cash payment of HKD1,600 per day under the hospital cash benefit. This figure is subject to rounding adjustment. The actual amount of the premium is decided at the discretion of HSBC Life.
      6. Disabilities refer to injury, sickness, disease or illness. These include all disabilities arising from the same cause, including any and all resulting complications, except those that do not require any further treatment 90 days after the last medical treatment or consultation. Any subsequent disability from the same cause will be considered a separate disability.
      7. For all your biological, step or legally adopted children agedFootnote link 9 between 15 days after birth to 18 years.
      8. Based on a non-smoking female agedFootnote link 9 19 for a sum insured of HKD1,000,000 for the basic plan. The benefit payable is HKD500,000, which is equivalent to 50% of the basic sum insured. The figure is subject to rounding adjustment. The actual amount of the premium is decided at the discretion of HSBC Life.
      9. The age refers to the age the insured person or policyholder, whichever is applicable, will be on their next birthday.
      10. If any of your nominated beneficiaries fall under the relationship status of grandchildren, grandparents, stepchildren, step parents, step brother, step sister, cohabiting or non-cohabiting partner, you'll be required to submit the relevant declaration or documents as proof of an insurable relationship between the life insured and the nominated beneficiaries. Please refer to the relevant declaration form for nominating a non-cohabiting partner or the form for all other relationships listed.       11. Cash withdrawals are subject to a surrender charge in the first eight policy years. Please refer to 'Surrender charge' under 'Details of Charges' in the product brochure for details.
      12. If the death benefit is paid between years, the payment will be determined up to a completed month and on a pro-rata basis.

      HSBC Family Protector is a term life insurance plan with no savings element underwritten by HSBC Life (International) Limited ("HSBC Life") which is authorised and regulated by the Insurance Authority ("IA") to carry on long-term insurance business in the Hong Kong SAR. The plan aims to fulfil your need for financial protection against mishaps such as death, and for health care needs to prepare for situations such as critical illness or hospitalisation. Neither this plan nor any of its additional benefits have any cash or surrender value. Unless you exercise your cancellation right within the cooling-off period, you will not be able to access any funds from your policy by terminating or surrendering it. You should seek source from other sources of liquid assets or cash to meet your present or future liquidity needs. It is not a bank deposit or bank savings plan.
